Day 1: Inauguration & Introduction to Generative AI
The FDP was inaugurated with great enthusiasm on April 4, 2025. The event began with a welcome address and lighting of the lamp, accompanied by a prayer to invoke blessings.
Prof. Malatesh Kamatar, Assistant Professor, CS&E Department anchored the event.
In the absence of the Chairman, Dr. Rohith U M, Principal of PDIT, delivered the Presidential Address, emphasizing AI's transformative potential in higher education.
Dr. Parvati Kadli, Vice-Principal & HOD, CS&E, introduced the event and gave context on the importance of the FDP.
Dr. Manjula S D, Dean of Academics, and Dr. Shiva Keshava Kumar, IQAC Coordinator were also present.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Abhilash G, Data Scientist, who provided an insightful session on:
- The landscape of Artificial Intelligence
- Transition from Traditional AI to Generative AI
- Scope, capabilities, and ethical considerations of GenAI
First Session Highlights:
- Participants gained clarity on foundational AI vs. GenAI
- Understood sustainability, limitations, and future trends
Day 1 Assignment: Participants were asked to create comparison tables contrasting Traditional AI and Generative AI, reinforcing the day's learning outcomes.
Day 2: Summarization and Smart Question Paper Generation
Session 1: Introduction to Hugging Face models for text summarization
Participants worked with NLP tools and pre-trained models to summarize long-form academic content using simple prompts.
Session 2: Hands-on with OpenAI tools to build a Smart Question Paper Generator.
Educators were able to generate quizzes and exam papers based on topic-specific prompts, improving speed and contextual alignment with curriculum.
Day 3: Medical AI & Reverse Build Projects
Session 1: Real-time medical use-case – Participants worked on improving the GenAI_Based_Medicine_Assistant.py, refining conversational AI for medicine-related queries.
Session 2:
- Reverse Build Project 1 – GenAI-based Email Curator: Teams built an AI that could summarize, sort, and highlight key emails in an academic setting.
Session 3:
- Reverse Build Project 2 – GenAI-based Search Engine: Participants explored how to replicate intelligent academic search systems using GenAI frameworks.
Day 4: GenAI Resume Builder
This day focused on building AI-driven resumes using OpenAI prompts. Participants generated custom-tailored resumes and explored:
- Content optimization using LLMs
- Domain-specific skill suggestion
- Formatting and export automation
The tool proved highly useful for both student placement cells and faculty development.
Day 5: GitHub Deployment, Cloud, and Valedictory
Session Highlights:
- GitHub Essentials: Participants learned how to upload, version, and manage AI codebases.
- AWS Deployment: A step-by-step live demonstration of deploying a GenAI application on AWS cloud was conducted. Participants followed along in real-time.
This session provided practical DevOps knowledge crucial for AI project scaling and sharing.
Valedictory Ceremony:
The session concluded with:
- Feedback sharing
- Certificate distribution
- Reflections by faculty and participants
- Vote of thanks by coordinators Prof. Roopanand M K and Prof. Indira
Outcomes of the FDP:
This FDP helped faculty and students gain industry-relevant AI skills. Participants built applications like:
- Text summarization models using Hugging Face
- Smart Question Paper Generator using OpenAI
- GenAI-based Resume Builders
- CO-PO Mapping Generators
- Lesson Plan Creators
- Attendance Management Systems
- Research Paper Comparator Tools
- Medicine Assistant Chatbots
- Email Curators & GenAI Search Engines
